PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA
Concert
Sun. 19th September 2010
The Philharmonic Orchestra opens its 2010-2011 season with a program dedicated to George Gershwin, and who better than Wayne Marshall to conduct his work. Admirable organist and pianist, he excels in this repertory, quite as in the improvisation, the management and the jazz. Named organist in residence of the Bridgewater Hall of Manchester, he also occurs in duet with the singer Kim Criswell, the invited soloist of this program.
His pianist's qualities make one of the best interpreters of Gershwin, Bernstein, Ellington among many others. In July 2002, he was invited for the first time in Monte Carlo, in the Prince Palace for a program dedicated to the American music. He turned back in December 2004 for the concert of the end of year (Gershwin and Bernstein) and again in June 2007 for Bernstein’s "Wonderful Town" .
