 Super Warhol
From July 16 to August 31, 2003

Inaugurated on July 15, 2003, the "SUPER WARHOL" exhibition marked a decisive turning point in the cultural dimension of the Grimaldi Forum Monaco. Since then, the institution has earned a foothold and international recognition thanks to the association of three figures: the iconic Andy Warhol, leading expert and curator of the exhibition Germano Celant, and Matali Crasset, a young scenographer at the dawn of a blazing ascent. The exhibition follows the historical journey of pop artist Andy Warhol with particular attention to the monumentality of his production "Sizing is a form of thinking," to echo one of his statements*.

The gigantism of the works is honoured, with some exceeding 10 meters and providing a new vision of his research, from the 1960s to the late 1980s. Surprising wallpaper installations as well as cinematographic projections are unveiled to the public, alongside the Oxidation paintings (1978-1984), Camouflages (1986) and Last Supper (1986) series, dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci.

Germano Celant's passing on April 29, 2020 left a mark on the art world, and this loss had a particular impact on the teams at the Grimaldi Forum, who collaborated alongside him on this exhibition.
