TLS, SEASON 8 - The Grimaldi Forum Underground scene is livelier than ever!

21 mars 2023

Since 2015, Thursday Live Sessions (TLS) have offered recurring (and free) musical shows in the Principality.

Conceived by Alfonso Ciulla, the artistic director of Grimaldi Forum, the concept has remained loyal to its original vision : recreate, one Thursday per month, an ephemeral live-show club in an intimate atmosphere that provides true interaction between the artists and the audience. A place with bar service and light catering, where each can experience the concert as best suits them. Starting at 18:30, a DJ guarantees an " afterwork " ambiance as part of the musically themed evening, before giving the floor to a live performance by the artist scheduled for that night.

TLS bring to light emerging talents, from different walks of life. Among the TLS alumni are John Milk, Hyphen Hyphen, Joao Selva, The Limiñanas, The Bongo Hop… The stage is open to all music genres -electronic, pop, rock, jazz, hip-hop, indie…, with all groups invited having a single common denominator : the desire to tell a story, to share, and to bring together an audience that loves music and contact with the artists.

The 2023 sessions will be a reflection of this eclecticism.

They'll start with rock ‘n’roll, kicking off on March 23 with Yarol Poupaud, the guitarist and musical director for Johnny Hallyday in his final years of concerts, also known via his band FFF, the French fonck federation…The April 20 session will be Awa Ly, an incredible voice who has been putting on concert after concert since 2014, mixing jazz, soul, funk, and afrobeat. On June 22 there's Dr Feel Good, one of the most popular live rhythm and blues groups since the 70s, who will certainly light the indigo-covered stage on fire.

After a break in July-August, things will pick up again with Folk Pop Blues Rock on September 7, with the French songwriter Gaspard Royant, who's just released his 4th album. On October 26, the stage is reserved for Calibro 35, a group created in 2007 when the producer of Muse invited some of the best musicians from the Italian scene to record original bands. Having become a full-time band, their latest project is dedicated to Ennio Morricone. The last session of the year, on December 14, will welcome Electrophazz, a unique mix of Soul, Jazz & Hip Hop and a real sound and light show !

Reservations are more than encouraged for those wishing to take part in these sessions !
