Exhibition MONET IN FULL LIGHT 120,000 visitors in less than 2 months!
06 septembre 2023
Acclaimed by all, the 2023 summer event Grimaldi Forum Monaco retracing Monet's work has been an overwhelming success.
A new record!
As the exhibition came to a close last night, Sylvie Biancheri, General Manager of the Grimaldi Forum, expressed her delight."It was a new record! Based on the number of days open, this exhibition was the most popular ever of the Grimaldi Forum! We can be proud of such a result and I'd like to congratulate all our teams on their fantastic work. From self-guided visits to guided tours, not to mention the boutique, we were fully booked for the 58 days the exhibition lasted!"
The incredible response from the public, as reflected in the digital visitors' book, the enthusiasm of the national and international press, and the coverage in the social media all contributed to the success of the exhibition, as did the regional anchoring with its brand new Riviera focus.
An average of 2,000 visitors came in every day, with numbers peaking to 4,000 towards the end of the exhibition, thanks to amazing "word-of-mouth". Approximately 80% of visitors came from Monaco and France. From abroad, the majority was European, 10% of which were Italians drawn by Claude Monet's paintings in Bordighera and Dolceacqua.
For Francesco Grosoli, CEO of CMB Monaco, official and historical partner of the Grimaldi Forum, “This exhibition will remain engraved in our memories. Its quality reflected our ambition in terms of sponsorship: contributing more and in more significant ways to the cultural influence of the Principality." It also was an opportunity to capitalize on the partnership between the Grimaldi Forum and CMB Monaco, now positioned under the banner of CSR, and to welcome groups accompanied by the association "Les Enfants de Frankie".
A sustainable exhibition
In the process of gaining ISO 20121 certification, the benchmark for sustainable events, the Grimaldi Forum Monaco went one step further this year. We joined forces with the transport company André Chenue to reduce the exhibition's ecological impact. Crating systems were re-designed, air deliveries were consolidated, and a new fuel solution was even used for road freight! The result was impressive: savings of over 20% or some 30 tons of CO2 less! As part of the Grimaldi Forum CSR strategy, the exhibition was an opportunity to welcome non-profit organizations such as "Les Enfants de Frankie" with CMB Monaco or "Fight Aids". Visits for the visually impaired and the blind with "Valentin Haüy" and "Arrimage" also took place.
Inaugurated on July 6 by HRH Prince Albert II, the exhibition Monet in full light ran from July 8 to September 3, 2023. To mark the 140th anniversary of Claude Monet's first visit to Monte-Carlo and the Riviera, it offered a new perspective on the Master's works with nearly 100 paintings coming from all over the world. Curated by Claude Monet specialist, Marianne Mathieu, the exhibition provided an amazing 27,000 sf.setting to gain a deeper knowledge of the painter's artistic quest. It proved to be one of the most important Claude Monet exhibition this decade and undoubtedly the most daring and ambitious, with masterpieces rarely unveiled together along with one painting never exhibited before! Produced by the Grimaldi Forum Monaco, with the generous support of the Musée Marmottan Monet in Paris, the exhibition brought together over 30 art lenders. It also received exceptional assistance from CMB Monaco, Sotheby’s and Groupe Marzocco.
