NEW YORK NEW YORK, FIFTY YEARS OF ART, ARCHITECTURE, CINEMA, PERFORMANCE, PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEO
From July 14 to September 10, 2006

This exhibition pays tribute to New York's artistic creations from 1945 to the 2000s, examining major artistic movements through the most iconic artists, from abstract expressionism to pop art, minimalism to conceptual art, as well as post-modernism.

This exhibition was the first in Europe to explore this theme, and it brought together 500 works of art by 200 artists, laid out across more than 4,000 m². The scenography of this exhibition manages to bring together both large-format paintings and monumental sculptures through a spectacular visual layout. Emblematic works in painting, sculpture, architecture, photography, video, cinema, performance and other installations illustrate the dynamism of the American artistic landscape.

This ambitious project relied on scientific collaboration from experts in various areas; only the dynamic duo of Lisa Dennison and Germano Celant would have been able to tackle a topic of such magnitude.
