THURSDAY LIVE SESSIONS - JIMMY GNECCO - OURS

A unique figure on the American music scene, Jimmy Gnecco is the voice and soul of the band OURS, a group that achieved cult status upon the release of their debut album *Distorted Lullabies*, now regarded as a classic.

Since that album, Jimmy Gnecco has, alongside OURS, ceaselessly developed an instantly recognisable sound, across albums that are nonetheless very different (‘Precious’ in 2002, ‘Mercy’ in 2008, ‘Ballet The Boxer’ in 2013, ‘New Age Heroine’ in 2024, ‘Rocket’s Red Glare’ in 2025): music distinguished by its demanding composition and rare emotional intensity, moving effortlessly from alternative rock to dark pop, with cinematic flourishes.

Alongside this OURS project, Jimmy Gnecco released a deeply personal solo album in 2010, *The Heart*, in which he laid himself bare with a poignant modesty.

Having moved away from the major labels of his early days, he now crafts his albums entirely on his own, handling the recording, mixing, production and mastering, whilst playing the vast majority of the instruments featured. He thus embraces a DIY approach that prioritises authenticity, emotion and natural vocals (without artifice or auto-tune).

Over the years, Jimmy Gnecco has collaborated in the studio or shared the stage with many big names in music, whether renowned producers (Rick Rubin, Steve Lillywhite, Ethan Johns, Tim Palmer, …) or established artists (Humanist, Robert De Leo and Stone Temple Pilots, A-Ha, Slash and Velvet Revolver, …). His talent has often been praised by his peers, including the late Chester Bennington, who named him one of the three greatest male singers of all time (alongside Chris Cornell and Jeff Buckley), and Lana Del Rey, who went so far as to write a song named after him.

Whether performing with his band OURS or as a solo artist, Jimmy Gnecco’s live performances always leave a lasting impression on his audience, who are captivated by his intense and passionate concerts. He doesn’t simply play songs; he shares moments of truth. Each concert thus becomes a space for connection, where his voice and music serve as a direct link between the artist and his audience.
