Charles Ives was the first American composer to reference popular melodies in symphony music, in 1902, in his second symphony. Some decades later in New York, Leonard Bernstein went further by combining classical music with dance and musical comedy. Today, Yutaka Sado works the same flame…Pre-performance talk at 6:30 pm: Charles Ives, the visionary composer -Philippe Albèra, Musicologist.
