Sometimes the prejudices are misleading: the encyclopedias of the music repeat to us "ad nauseam" that apart from a relative stroke of genius (Nabucco), Giuseppe Verdi then knows years of galley to reveal himself really only from the trilogy Rigoletto, Il trovatore, La traviata. Yet, it is enough to hear Ernani, Macbeth, Stiffelio or I due Foscari to understand that these judgments long taken for cash are wrong. A spectacular vocal work, I due Foscari is distinguished by the psychological finesse with which his main role is described.
