A monument of the symphonic repertoire, Bruckner's Fifth Symphony is an extraordinary work. Composed between 1875 and 1878, it was never actually heard by its creator. Bruckner himself wanted it to be "complete down to the smallest detail." The symphony's four movements form a sort of arch, all linked together in a powerful cyclic form.
Marek Janowski, an undisputed specialist of the Germanic repertoire, served as the Artistic and Musical Director of the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra from 2000 to 2005. During those years, he deeply transformed the orchestra by expanding its ranks and opening its access to a broader repertoire. He returns to Monaco to conduct his final concert with the OPMC as part of his farewell tour.
