MONTE-CARLO BALLET - LA BELLE

From 28 December to 3 January the Monte-Carlo Ballet Company will perform Jean-Christophe Maillot's La Belle created in 2001, which has won several international awards including the 2002 Danza & Danza prize for best show. "I went for a psychoanalytical reading of Sleeping Beauty," the choreographer explains. "Everyone knows the story and there's an intimate link with childhood, our fears and secret desires." Without in the least sweetening Perrault's fairy tale, Maillot has created a dazzling ballet that ends the year on a superlative note.
