Maggie Prescott is editor-in-chief of the American fashion magazine Quality Magazine. She is looking for a model to show the latest creations of a renowned French couturier, Paul Duval. The magazine's fashion photographer, Dick Avery, finds the ideal person: Jo Stockton, a young New York bookseller, more interested in the teachings of French philosophy professor Flostre than in haute couture. She accepts Avery's proposal for the sole purpose of going to Paris to meet her idol. On the evening of the first fittings at Duval's, Jo is nowhere to be found... But Dick has some idea as to where she could be...
