MONACO DANCE FORUM

The Monte-Carlo Ballets, combining henceforth within the same structure the Ballets Company, the Monaco Dance Forum and the Princess Grace Dance Academy, will be presenting throughout the next season the results of a work covering all aspects of the choreographic art. Creation, training and distribution of the choreographic art became, under the responsibility of Jean-Christophe Maillot, the key words of the dance in Monaco.
On December 13th, 2012, The Princess Grace Dance Academy
The Princess Grace Dance Academy, under the direction of Luca Masala, will inaugurate the intense period of the December shows with a program that illustrates this synergy. Within the framework of the Monaco Dance Forum, the dancers of the company, Mimoza Koike, Julien Guérin and Bruno Roque will create for the Academy’s pupils a show that will assert among other a major educational objective of this school: protect the quality of the classic education while allowing an opening to the diverse influences of the current dance.
From December 13th to 23rd, 2012, the Monaco Dance Forum
The Monaco Dance Forum will welcome this year shows reflecting Jean-Christophe Maillot's desire to increase the public’s awareness of the most diverse forms of dance. The Festival will open with the play Hans was Heiri by the Zimmermann and De Perrot duet. Accompanied by 5 circus artists and dancers, this duet of Swiss film directors knows actually a flashing ascent.
Juana from Eric Oberdorff will gather on a set 7 completely different women but, nevertheless, strangely similar. For this play, the choreographer worked with the composer Analia Llugdar, on the invitation of the CIRM. The Festival will welcome again Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch for a replay of his Window cleaner (Der Fensterputzer). Perched on a mountain of red petals, the company and its symbolic dancers offer us Pina Bausch's major play. For the young audience, George Momboye will present Chicken Bicycle, choreography "from 6 to 106 years": a journey through the heart of Africa and the choreographer’s childhood memories. The Systeme Castafiore will present its solo The Singings of Umai. Five songs interpreted by the dancer Marcia Barcellos and staged, always in a original and surprising way, by Karl Biscuit. Another strong moment of the program: Maguy Marin presents Salvoes, an important play choreographed by a big name of the dance. Finally, The Company of the Ballets of Monte Carlo will participate in the Festival by presenting 3 ballets with a program with Scandinavian accents. Ina Christel Johannessen, Norwegian applauded choreographer last year in the Principality, will return with a creation conceived for the company, as well as Alexander Ekman, young Swedish choreographer known for his sense of rhythm, for his energy and his comic humor. Jean-Christophe Maillot will go back Towards a Wise Country.
