MONACO ART- WEEK - ROUND TABLE

Sat. 27th April 2019 3:00pm - 4:00pm

Round table (in English) - Classical and Contemporary: Collecting Today

SATURDAY 27 APRIL 2019

15p.m / Salle Van Dongen

MONACO ART WEEK, in collaboration with Grimaldi Forum Monaco, organizes for the second year in a row, a discussion exploring a current topic of the art world, in relation with the Principality of Monaco.

One of the specificities of the MONACO ART WEEK being the diversity of the art periods represented, the Round Table will address the relationships and issues emerging within collections including both ancient art and contemporary art.

This discussion will explore what it means to include historical and contemporary art in the same collection, coinciding with the exhibition of Fabrizio Moretti’s private collection (’Step by Step’) at NMNM – Villa Sauber. What different ways are there of approaching this type of collecting? What can we learn about historical or contemporary art by doing so? What are the practicalities of keeping up to date with different markets? What is the role of aesthetics in such collections? And what are the challenges in terms of display, storage and cataloguing?

The discussion will be led by Thomas Marks, publisher of Apollo Magazine and partner of the event.

Speakers :

Minjung Kim, Artist & Collector
Fabrizio Moretti, Art Dealer & Collector, Vice-President of Monaco Art Week, Secretary General of “Biennale Internazionale dell’antiquariato di Firenze”
