We know the importance of the concept of the trinity in Jean-Christophe Maillot’s ballets, this combination of characters which, as a trio, experience the most universal emotions and the most intense passions. In Faust, this trinity reaches its peak through the sacred and accursed relationship which connects Faust, Marguerite and Méfistophélès. Faust (the aging malcontent) Marguerite (the female ideal) and Méphisto (absolute evil) swim in the twists and turns of the human comedy, while Death, a slender and sensual figure, observes them without rushing.
