CANCELLED - LES BALLETS DE MONTE-CARLO (initially scheduled 23 to 26 April 2020)

Thurs. 23rd - Sun. 26th April 2020

3 original productions

On April 23–26, 2020, the Ballets de Monte-Carlo will treat the audience at the Grimaldi Forum to a very prestigious program. Consisting of three high-level ballets, both technically and artistically, this program will require dancers to draw on all their expertise. First, the company will perform the famous Four Temperaments by George Balanchine, a choreographer who has always been part of the DNA of the Ballets de Monte-Carlo. The dancers will then perform Casi-Casa by Mats Ek. The production, which takes another look at this great artist’s unmissable masterpieces, will be an event for the company since the iconic Swedish choreographer will thus enter the Ballets de Monte-Carlo repertoire. Lastly, the program will end with Altro Canto I by Jean-Christophe Maillot. Halfway between the statuary of cathedrals and the chiaroscuro of a Georges de La Tour, the ballet exalts the androgynous bodies of the dancers who espouse, by candlelight, Monteverdi’s noble Magnificat.
