AMORE BALLET BY SVETLANA ZAKHAROVA

Wed. 6th July 2016 7:00pm

Amd.Peacock & MuzArt  present two exceptional ballet performances in Monaco, on 6 July

A new summer star at the Grimaldi Forum : Svetlana Zakharova! With World premiere “AMORE”

Multi award-winning, Svetlana Zakharova  is Prima ballerina of the Bolshoi Theatre, Principal dancer & the first and only Russian Etoile Teatro alla Scala, the main guest star Grand Opera and the National Theatre, Tokyo.

In this new production Svetlana Zakharova experiments with both classic and contemporary styles as she strives for perfection in constant search for new ways of artistic expression in dance. For her programme Svetlana have chosen three ballets by three world-renowned choreographers: Yuri Possokhov (San Francisco Ballet's choreographer), alongside Patrick De Bana (Vienna State Ballet's regular choreographer and honorary member of the National Board of German Ballet and Dance Theatre Directors), and Marguerite Donlon (Irish choreographer and artistic director currently based in Berlin). Svetlana Zakharova will be accompanied with principal dancers of the Russian Ballet : Denis Rodkin, Mikhail Lobukhin, Denis Savin as well as other dancers of the Theater Bolshoi.

The evening opens with 'Francesca da Rimini' ballet to music by Peter Tchaikovsky, choreographed by Yuri Possokhov.

Yuri Possokhov started his ballet career in the Bolshoi theatre as a principal dancer to become later now he is a very successful choreographer. He is well known for his perfectionism in choreography. Among all of his productions there is not a single one that would in any way look the same as works by any other choreographer or any of his own previous creations.

The story of Francesca da Rimini, immortalized in Dante's "Divine Comedy", has a long and rich pedigree in the art world. 'Francesca da Rimini' by Yuri Possokhov is a ballet in one act, telling about the love between Francesca and Paolo, their tragic death and their eternal torments in hell's whirlwind of lovers' souls.

The second part of the programme will present 'Rain Before It Falls' a new ballet choreographed by Patrick de Bana to music by Georg Frederic Handel,  Ottorino Respighi and Carlos Pina-Quintna,.

Patrick de Bana came to fame as the premier dancer at Béjart Ballet Lausanne and Nacho Duato and has well established himself on the world's ballet stage both as the performer and the director. 'Rain Before It Falls' is created specially for Svetlana Zakharova, who will perform it with Patrick de Bana. According to choreographer, his ballet tells the story of the two most important things in life: the love and the dream.

The night's finale is Marguerite Donlon's 'Strokes through the Tail’ set to the music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Regarding the unusual name of her ballet choreographer says that she has "borrowed" it from the composer himself: "I learned that Mozart when writing the 40th symphony used to a unique graphic mark of his own - he crossed out the tails of notes, showing the performers, that they may freely choose the duration of the note. "

Marguerite Donlon is one of those daring choreographers who break down the barriers between the classical and the contemporary dance, bringing back to stage «a man from the street». Her work is far from any artistic ideology and it is simply impossible to imagine that someone can become bored with her creations. For the first time in the history of Svetlana Zakharova is to appear in front of the audience in quite an unusual role for herself.
