DALI. A HISTORY OF PAINTING
From July 6 to September 8, 2019

As part of the 30th anniversary of Salvador Dali's death, the Grimaldi Forum Monaco has paid tribute to one of the most famous and popular artists of the 20th century.

An emblematic figure of surrealism, hyperrealism and pop art, but also a classic artist celebrating great masters such as Vermeer, Velazquez, Raphael and Leonardo da Vinci, Dali has constantly questioned the modern world - even the most unexpected scientific discoveries - in the light of Tradition.

The exhibition, made possible thanks to the support of the Gala-Salvador Dali Foundation and its prominent specialist Montse Aguer, brought together a selection of paintings, drawings and photographs that cover the period from 1910 to 1983 and allow visitors to discover the artist's various stages of creation. Alongside the works from the collection at the Dali Theatre-Museum in Figueres were remarkable loans granted by the Museo Reina Sofia in Madrid and the Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida. This unprecedented approach and retrospective view of Dali's work show the public how the artist himself found his way into 20th century painting history.
