The legacy of the great Monegasque tradition of "Russian Seasons" initiated by Sergei Diaghilev early last century will continue at the Grimaldi Forum the 12 and 13 September 2015, with the RUSSIAN GALA will present two great shows starring stars of Russian ballet.

The legacy of the great Monegasque tradition of “Russian seasons”, initiated by Sergueï Diaghilev at the beginning of the last century, will continue at the Grimaldi Forum on 12 and 13 September 2015 with the Russian Gala which will present two shows featuring the stars of Russian ballet. In 2012, the organisers of the Russian Gala decided to revive this artistic magic with the coming together of solo dancers from the Bolshoi Theatre and the Mariinsky and Mikhailovski Theatres who presented classical and contemporary choreography. That evening remained a memorable event for all the guests … For the new Russian Gala this year, the stage of the Salle des Princes will welcome the major internationally renowned stars of ballet: Artists from the Mikhailovski Theatre – the exquisite Irina Perren, known as the “pure poetic incarnation of dance”, the enchanting Sabina Iapparova, the virtuoso Leonid Sarafanov, and Marat Shemiunov, “the king of classical accompaniment”; the star dancers of the Bolshoi Theatre - Kristina Kretova, named “Revelation of 2013” by all the European critics, the fragile Anastasia Stashkevich, the sparkling Anna Tikhomirova, the virile Mikhail Lobukhin and the elegant Artem Ovcharenko; The Mariinsky Theatre will present a captivating “Light Dance” by Olesia Novikova with the bewitching Filipp Stepin. The programme for the two evenings of ballet is divided between timeless classical dance and expressive contemporary dance. They will be evocative examples of real traditions, not frozen like pieces in a museum, but constituting the living foundation for new inspiration and innovative modern art.
