No clichés, no postcards, a musical score born of the meandering minds and explorations of three men – brothers Barthélémy and Melchior, and their longstanding friend Antoine.
Bangkok is a synonym and breeding ground for the fantasies from which this first eponymous EP is spun. It is indefinable and as addictive as opium, an amalgam of organic electropop, seismic rock and disc-shaped missiles that have flourished under the bright lights of the ultra-cities, and floating folk music. Yet the paradoxes don’t stop there. The band is called Bangkok because that’s where the three of them met up again after living for many years outside their native land. These were no middle-class hippies or backpackers: Barthélémy and Melchior were in the gemstone trade, Antoine working for humanitarian NGOs. Bangkok was the base camp for a repertoire that gradually took shape as they experimented in a local studio.
