MONACO AUDIOVISUAL ARCHIVES

Since their creation in 1997, the Monaco Audiovisual Archives have grown to include a rich collection of professional and amateur films, photographs, as well as sound documents from Monegasque institutions and families. This enrichment has also been made possible with the help of various international organizations, Archives, and Film libraries. However, the energy deployed to collect, conserve and safeguard these films and audiovisual documents only makes sense if this heritage is valued. It is necessary to take these out of the archives, to “give them to be seen”, to decode and to interpret the works and the documents in order to reveal their richness and particularities. This was the thought that led to the creation of the “Monaco en films” label, a programming that has aroused the enthusiasm and curiosity of the public for twenty years. Showcasing our heritage is to work on our memories, transmitting the taste for archives, for history. This cine-conference will offer proof of this, not only in pictures, but in words and surprises as well: twenty years, a high point for an anniversary.
