THURSDAY LIVE SESSIONS - BOMBINO
Thurs. 27th October 2016
Niger-born Bombino is a member of the Ifoghas tribe of Tuaregs, a nomadic people descended from North African Berbers. The Tuareg people have on several occasions risen up against Niger's government to demand their rights, which has led Bombino and his family to flee the country more than once. During these exiles Bombino discovered a passion for the guitar, which he then studied under the famous Tuareg guitarist Haja Bebe. At the insistence of filmmaker Ron Wyman, Bombino released his first album, Agadez, in 2011; it received ecstatic reviews from critics around the world and brought him sold-out concerts. His second album explores the roots of the blues in the company of long-time fan Dan Auerbach. The magic has rooted, the desert has a new voice and an exciting story continues.
