Founded in 1975, ASM Aikido now has 80 members. Taking advantage of this "Summer of Japan in Monaco", the Sport Association hopes to reach out to the public in order to discover the discipline.
Aikido is a traditional Japanese martial art founded by Morihei Ueshiba in the twentieth century. It is a synthesis of martial arts old military transformed and pacified in order to be adapted to the realities of today, its goal becoming the building itself. Thus, the Japanese word Aikido is translated into English by "the way of harmonizing energy". Note that there is no competition in this martial art based on the Zen spirit.
